I could not log in under my name for some reason.

We are one adult, 2 kids (14 daughter, and 12.5 son (autistic) and two small dogs.

Thank you all for the wonderful words of encouragement!!  We are so excited and can hardly wait to join you all!  We are leaving Aaturday morning for San Felipe (a 10 day trip) with just the kids and I.  I am wondering about battery power.  I don't have a battery hooked up but was thinking about buying a deep cycyle (or deep cell) but don't know what I would do with it once I bought it.  I have a power inverter - i think.  I know I have a power cord that hooks to internal lights and there is a faceplate where an on/off switch states something about a heater.  But I don't see anything anywhere under the seats.

I bought the trailer from a 17 year old kid who lived in Dana Point although he took very good care of this Coleman 1983 trailer while he had it (as did the previous owners so my small investment has paid off nicely so far!) but he didn't know about the electricty or power/battery components.  THere is a propane tank outside hooked to the frame that i had the line fixed so it hooked to the stove.  Otherwise whe I have the ability to hook up I pluc in the cord and the inside lights turn on.

Since I am going to be in San Felipe for 10 days without any power - just propane.  I am wondering what I can do for power?  I have a power inverter that plugs into my truck lighter but the cord is really short.  Are there extensioons?  I would like to be able to watch a dvd on a portable player or use some electricity while I am out there....not a lot and I won't need heat.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!  Leslie8881 and kids

I still vote for potlucks Sat for breakfast and dinner...love to eat someones elses cooking for a change...so far its always worked out with a variety of food...I think the women should be able to relax also so bring what you can handle or maybe what your DH will cook (mine won't!) I'm planning something microwaveable or crockpot for dinner (main course).  Breakfast will be an egg cassarole.  I can't wait to meet everyone...Kim, Tyler can't wait to play with the boys again.  Its going to be nice to have smaller group so we can really get to know each family.  Its kind of hard when its a bigger ralley to get around to everybody.  I love the mountains for camping..I am looking forward til April...and hopefully a drier season..

Sue, just this week, Matt asked when he would see Tyler again.  He didn't know his name but knew it was the boy with all the trains.  We took our new trailer out for the 1st time last weekend and Matt asked if all his camping friends would be there.  Oh by the way, we're going to be camping at the San Diego KOA at the same time you are in May.  We're going to go to the zoo and Sea World.  The kids will have a ball.

How about we settle on a potluck for both Sat. breakfast & dinner like we usually do at rallies.  Don't feel like everyone has to participate.

Hi everyone,

How does Cincinnati Chili and Coffee Toffee bars sound for potluck Sat??  I am hungry thinking about it.  Cinc. Chili doesn't have beans.

As far as Sat. morning, I'm still thinking on it.  I'll let you all know what I come up with.

We are in space #32.  Myself, dh (Kent), Luke (10), John (8).

Our Coleman SeaPine and one cat (who doesn't come camping with us.)  We aren't in hook-ups, but we have a battery that works well and I'm sure it will last the weekend.

Hey, we just found out the Hardees live around the corner from us!  Amazing. :)
What a small world.

We are going to Pismo the end of the month, Heise Mid-April, Pismo in June, Tahoe in July.  Awesome.  When's the next get-together?  We have already signed up for Halloween.

Looking so forward to meeting you all.

I had a thought.......or several...

What time should we have the potlucks?  I was thinking the evening potluck around 5:00 so that those who wanted, could attend the campground hosted campfire.  Don't know about the breakfast potluck....we are not fast movers in the morning.
Also, what about a scavenger hunt/mixer?  The scavenger hunt will be finding things in the park like how many trees......but not many or any going to sites and asking for items except our own group.  It's a great way to explore the campground and meet the group.  I will have the scavenger hunt sheet and also a sign that can be picked up and placed in your camper when everyone gets to their sites.  I will come up with some kind of prize for the winning campsite.  Or we can have everyone bring a  prize so everyone wins.....example:  If you have 2 adults and 2 kids, you would bring 2 adult prizes and 2 children prizes....we would need to keep the cost down to about $5.00 each or we could bring "white elephant" for the adults and a new inexpensive for the kids?  We can start the scavenger hunt at check in (friday evening) and end it at the potluck or if we have a group campfire. That way it gives plenty of time for those of you who want go on into Julian for a while.

Also, is anyone creative with planning a campfire?  It would be fun to sit around and have skits, sing songs  etc.  But need someone to be incharge.  Someone to "MC".  We could have each site do a skit or sing a song???????  We could have a sign in sheet or just play it by ear.

Also, if we are going to use the community fire ring, everyone needs to bring wood.

I will call William Heise about...
Park Program
reserving the picnic area in the caravan area
If in fact fires will be permited.

Anyother questions?

Hey Jacqui!

IIRC, there were a few of us--including you back when you were living down here--that held dual citizenship in both in NNC and SCCampers.  I was one of those a well, although Surfcal did promote me to a fully bona fide member of NNC after my involvement in "The Drunk Squad Incident" at last year's Pismo rally.

Therefore, as a founding member of SCCampers and a fully bona fide member of NNC, I do hereby declare that the mere action of moving closer to your northern membership club shall not deprive you of your southern club membership!  ;)

In other words, you can't get rid of us that easily. :D

5 pm for the Sat evening potluck sounds good for us as for breakfast, how does 9 AM sound.

OK, dual membership it is.  I am a proud member of SCC and a proud member of NNC.

5 PM and 9AM sound good.  I (And I mean just me) am not a fast mover in the a.m.  When I camp, I like to sleep in because I usually can't do that at home. :)
But, I think I can make 9:00.   :p

I have stayed at Heise before but I don't remember it.  How are the bathrooms? Are they clean??  Sorry, I'm obsessed with clean bathrooms.  Also, are there bears??  I have a GREAT story to tell everyone about bears when get to Heise.  It was in Tahoe last summer.

If anyone has any suggestions for breakfast, let me know.

Thanks
