This subject was posted on one of my fly fishing fourms and it turned out to be a hoot!  So I thought I'd see what it would do here.

My very first car was a 1931 Chevrolet coupe. It was my grandpa's and when he passed on it was passed down to me. I had it for my last year in high school. You could tell, too ... my grades declined with the "extra activities" that old car got me into!

Fly

CajunCamper

A 1965 Chevy step side pick up truck. I bought it for $500 in 1976 when I was 16. The wooden floor in the bed of the truck was rotted out near the cab.

I loved that truck.

CajunCamper

OC Campers

I had a 1984 Ford Temps 2 door coupe

Jacqui

My 1st car was a 1953 Henry-J. I got it from my grandfather (when he died) when I was 16. I took out the running gear (engine, trans & diff) and replaced it with the running gear from the wrecked '55 Chevy 283 that he had.

I would rather have had the '55 Chevy but it had been crushed by a fallen tree from a tornado.

WV Hillbilly

A red 1960 Chevy Impala convertible....loved to just go cruising in that baby!

Gracy

ford escort........... I believe it was an '88

My first car was a 1963 Corvair Monza Coupe.  The previous owner had taken it off-roading, and the dent on the front (running into a stump) had been pulled out by cutting two holes in the body with a cutting torch, putting a log chain through the holes and attaching to a tree, and repeatedly backing up to pull the body back into shape. Sort of back into shape, anyway. It burnt oil, wouldn't restart when warm, but took me to local strip mine ponds for fishing after school.  Most times it brought me back, too.

austinado16

1971 Honda 600 Sedan.  Paid $400 for it (found it behind a logging truck repair shop with a blown engine) back in 1979.  Mowed lawns, washed logging trucks, detailed cars.....saved and saved and saved for enough money to buy the parts to rebuild the engine.  Kept it until 1993.

JohnandLeann

1965 Dodge Coronet 440, 4 door sedan.  Belonged to my Grandpa, who lived in San Diego. Mom and dad originally drove to Illinois when were moved there for a few years.  I drove it back to California when I had my License for only about 2 weeks.  What a long drive that was for a 16 year old.
Had it through high school and it was dependable as all get-out.

My first car was a 1931 model A Ford five window coupe with a rumble seat that I bought for $35.00 when I was in high school. It had sat in a closed up garage for over five years and it's 4 banger engine was froze up solid. My uncle had a service station and garage where I often worked after school and on Saturdays pumping gas and as a mechanic's helper. We towed it to the garage with Unc's wrecker and he showed me how to get the engine loosened up which was a real job. It ran great but burned alot of oil. Unc later helped me remove the engine and overhaul it. We found out that the engine had cast iron pistons which was why it had frozen up so solid. After replacing these with aluminum pistons ,doing a valve job, replacing all bearings and applying a coat of paint she purred like a kitten. It idled so slowly that you could almost count the revolutions. It's body was perfect and still sported the original paint which shined up nicely. It had no radio, heater or AC. and was really a fun car to drive and I named her "Little Eva". She could carry six kids easily with three in the front and three in the rumble seat. A little cramped but nobody cared.
I drove Little Eva while in high school and she went to many football games, parties and some camping and fishing trips in the everglades and Florida Keys. A year after I graduated I traded her for a 1939 Dodge sedan which was in  pristine condition.
Several years later I learned that she had been sold several more times and then restored to her original showroom condition. She's probably resting in sombody's antique car collection now...I hope so..

My first car was a 1966 MGB which was powder blue.  So sweet and his name was Austin.  It had the knock off wheels, and a starter that I had to "back off" all the time with a special long handled wrench to get it to start.  I so loved that car, but it was so unreliable and I always had to call my dad to pick me up because it wouldn't start etc.  After Dad died, I sold it and got a Toyota Celica, a reliable car.  One time, I raced my "B" against another "B" that was a senior guy ....we went on the interstate and took off....needless to say....GIRLS RULE! I left him in the dust.

A Tank...1965 Buick LeSabre, 4 door. Passed down from my older sister. The radio only worked when I made left hand turns.

PM3579

1967 Galaxy 500 convertable white/turquoise. All original except the top and back glass, yes glass. It was one sweet ride with the top down and the boot on, everyone wanted to ride in it, even the girlfriends moms. :usflag:

fshnfool76

1971 Torino GT I got in '76. It was a yellow/gold color with stripes down the sides. The fast back, not the Starsky and Hutch car. Had it for 5 years. I still miss that car.

dkutz

1965 Mustang Fastback...still have it
