Hey- this looks like our fridge!
Tale of woe for Dave's benefit-
We ended up getting ours at sears when the old one started making noises. You should know that at sears your fate is in the salesperson you get.  One guy told me to come back on the weekend because it'll save me about $200.  And save I did, but it arrived with a defective water dispenser. Called for a repair guy, who called for a replacement- but- out of stock for over a month.
Got to the store to work on a replacement/refund only to find that first sales guy.
He pointed out the exact model- with the addition of a wine shelf gets a different part number- in stock- for $15 more.
Then he called to get the $15 waived- took him about half an hour to get that done. Got it the next day.
OK so the sears sales organization leaves something to be desired, the installers were pretty good. Took out the old drippy fridge without a trail of water, etc.  Be aware you end up wiping and washing everything before putting food in. It's a lot of work that I got to do twice.

We paid a few extra $ for stainless skin- and the kids have scratched it up somehow so I'd say it's not worth it.  The scratch is under a picture, what are fridge doors for anyways?

Got oh so lucky running into the right sales guy at the right time.

Clear out the fridge go camping and have a big potluck!

Quote from: griffsdad;217068Our refrigerator freezer combo just died and I've been moving food to our freezer in the garage and our camping frig. We may be canceling -
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a frig/freezer combo???

I have a bottom Freezer and LOVE it..since you don't go in the freezer as much the bottom shelf of the frig is waist high..well at least on me:p

We got the model with the bottom freezer too.  An LG from Home Deposit. Got a great price that included a $500 HD gift card. Two doors above for the fridge means no problem fitting party platters and other super wide containers. And, yes, you can still get water and ice in the door, just know that the ice storage is less than you are probably used to.

Like Dee said, you go into the fridge a lot more than the freezer. For us it's around 15 or 20 times more often. This design puts all the things you need most right at eye level. (For us anyway) The bottom freezer is supposed to be more efficient than side-by-side models too.

Whirlpool makes along with their own brand, Kitchenaid and Gladiator. They also own Amana, Admiral, Jenn-Air, Magic-Chef and Maytag. They, like a lot of other manufacturers, build appliances that are rebranded Kenmore for Sears. (although not all appliance types)

With the exception of the Small ice bin, we've been very pleased with LG in both quality and usability. Telly like the bottom freezer.

The LG french door fridge was what I wanted too but to get ice and water in the door it was over $2,000:yikes:.  Decided that the next fridge will be that one.

Yeah they are pricey. Ours was part of a full kitchen remodel. Due to the new floor plan and the need for a cabinet-depth fridge it was this style or one of the MUCH more pricey built-in models like Sub-Zero. In comparison this was cheap!

Lori; it will be her choice; is leaning towards the LG or Samsung French door with the bottom freezer. I don't thing we could fit a sub zero in our space. One thing I don't like is the stainless steel ones - shows finger prints. We had an Amana side by side and it lasted 17 years. I got to have the water and ice dispenser too. Thanks for all your opinions - it seems the french doors with the bottom freezer is a popular choice.
