 NickNick,
This is campinggeek.  We were also at Pfeiffer Big Sur until Saturday am.  We were there all week.  What site were you in?

I missed it too since I have not been checking the boards.  However, if you are doing a one-on-one with Scott, send me a CC.  Otherwise, we ll just have to drink on-site and you can tell me in person.

Here s the explaniation Ray, but we can still do the drink [;)]
I had a mole removed from my lower back, that turned our to be melomona, so had to visit a specialist, who took a bigger hunk out of my back, which needed 40 stiches to close up.
it is healing up nicely, and should have the stiches removed on monday

I missed that one too.  Sorry to hear about that, Kevin.  Glad you are on the mend.  Will you need further treatment as a safe guard?

6QuigsHave to say that I hate the word melonoma.  A coworker recently lost her mother to a melonoma that was statistically to small to require follow-up care, but she beat the odds---on the bad side.  Please take it seriously and make sure the doctor does too.

 6QuigsHello Kevin:

I am so pleased that you are on your way back to being well.  I don t get to check the boards as often these days and I missed your initial entry regarding your condition.  I am very glad that the treatment was successful and I ll continue to project positive thoughts for you and your family.

Off the topic, has anyone ever given any thought to the subject of this thread?  Who is General Coughing?  Is this an influence of CWB?  Is he a distant cousin of General Consensus?  And back during the War of Words, history shows that it was General Opinion that led the conflict.  Does this make any sense to anyone at all?

6QuigsPrivate Parts was also involved and was a bit on the naughty side, IIRC.

6QuigsI hope everyone had a great w/e re-enacting, camping, etc...!!!!!!!
Well, we had a great extended w/e in Monterey swimming, eating, drinking, shopping, watching sunsets, exploring, and learning.  Amy found all 3 Starbucks in the Monterey area so all was well, lol.  On the drive home today we all agreed that one of the highest highlights was meeting up with Dianne and Lon Saturday afternoon and going to the aquarium together.  You guys are terrific to drive down to see us!  Amy can t believe how much science knowledge Lon has in his brain and she is looking forward to some more chats with him.  Also, our oldest is really looking forward to seeing you 2 again in just 11 days.  Thanks again for making time out for us.  Looking forward to spending quite a bit more time with you in the next month.
Traffic was non-existent today (11:00 - 2:00) and we really made good time coming home.  Saw quite a few PU s on the road.  Even saw 1 crazy newbie (had to be a rookie) pulling a 12  Coleman PU with a 6 cylinder Toyota truck!  Slow and seriously swaying.  If he doesn t get stopped soon he will be burning up his transmission before long.  That is, if his luck holds out before he hurts someone or himself.

6QuigsWow!.  What a weekend.  We too were busy going here and there and having fun all weekend!  Didn t get to the computer tillkust now.

Kevin: Ouch! and double Ouch!  I know you have the very best advice, BUT... being a cancer survivor myself I get to " preach" .  Check and double check all you can re: follow up treatment.  Cut and slash (as we call it) isn t always enough. Some melanomas are particularly aggressive.  I am redoubling my good thought going your way, same as Ray is and we may even have to take up the prayer thing again. What ya say Ray? Willin  to give it shot for a good cause?   *smile*

Monterey and spending time with Jeff, Amy, Austen and Justen was indeed a kick.  And we even found the " Hairy Otter"  t-shirts!.  Talk about good luck charms.  You guys are terrific.  We are looking forward to picking up where we left off at Fort Bragg.  Amy, get those test made out so you can come.
I m glad you got home ok.  I left Santa Cruz at 5 and crawled over the hill with Annabelle sound a sleep and our 31/2 year old grandson trying to hold a conversation with Grandma.  Once we got over the hill it was fine though.
Our only regret was that we did not get up to Raoring Camp to see CWB.  We talked about it, but it just didn t woprk out.  Next year maybe we can make it a NNC rally.
Welcome home everyone:  hope your wekeend was terrific.

OH! as far as this thread goes, it is the only one going.  I like it. The PUT site seems to be running slowly in general; probably a function of having to $$$.  We have few newbies and guests and the threads require being knowing the people posting for the most part.
Besides all that, I cough a lot (alot) as anyone who has ever camped next to me can attest to.
 R&R everyone

QuoteI started a new job on monday, and had to fly down to Palm Springs for some training & a conference.
Apart from the 107 degree weather, I had a great time.
If I didn t have 40 stiches in my back I could have even played some golf, or gone swimming in the pool, so I had to be content on sipping Mai Tai s in the bar.
It s a small world after all.  Ralph and I spent last Tuesday through Friday in Palm Springs.  Apart from the 107 degree weather, switching off two small children with each other so we could attend our mandatory training sessions, poor reception on the TV - Sorry to admit we didn t have a great time.  If only we knew there was a bar in town where we could have shared a mai tai or two with Kevin.

I think our Palm Springs trip was a great reminder of how lucky we are to be campers.  Every day last week while staying in that hotel I couldn t wait to get home.  Every time I go camping I can t wait to go camping again.  We will be camping in  Yosemite starting Friday for  four days and then counting down the days to the Gold Rush!!! We are really looking forward to seeing everyone.

QuoteWelcome home everyone: hope your wekeend was terrific.

Your weekend sounds fabulous, Dianne.  I too had a good one even tho TOS had to work all three days.  I hung out with girlfriends, went shopping, lots of eating and walking, planted flowers and went to the movies.  We saw " Down With Love"  which was really silly and fun.  Then Scott and I celebrated Memorial Day by taking a leisurely stroll in the Harbor and having dinner at The Greek.  The best part was finding out I definitely qualify as a belly dancer!!!  [:D]

otterJeff and Dianne-- where did your families stay? We spent a weekend camping at Montery last year, and on the reccommendation of one of our PUT members, camped at Veteren s Memorial Park. Wow, what a neat place to camp! A fairly nice (dry) campground, with a HUGE grassy play area and swings for the kids, three minutes away from Cannery Row and the Aquarium, and only $18 a night! Sure beats the heck out of three hundred a night for a nice hotel.

Plus, you get to listen to the military acadamy (or whatever it is) nearby play a very moving rendition of Taps every night at 10 PM. The natural echos of the trumpet moving through the fog at night created a haunting sound I will never forget.
