GuestSteve, a scavenger hunt sounds like fun.  What I have discovered is " if you organize it, people will come" !

GuestI just wanted to let everyone know that I will be cashing the remaining checks on Friday.  I am sorry, it took so long but with a 2 year old, banking is not my favorite  errand.  So don t fret, I haven t lost the checks, I just received the last one and they will all be deposited.

 Thank You

 GuestHi everyone--

I just got off the phone with Jay at VLR and confirmed all of our sites.

I can t remember who said their friends were going to come with a tent but it is $20 per night up to 8 people total on the site.  I am sure if you are a little over that we can work out an " adopt a child"  program where someone takes on an extra person on their site (as far as count goes).

I also sent out the confirmation letters this weekend.  If anyone has any questions or concerns please let me know.  I did them at midnight so I hope I gave you the site you requested.  If you didn t receive one please let me know.

According to VLR all the acivities are included in the site fee.  Except for the hay ride which is $5 per person if you are staying at VLR or $12 if you are a visitor.  They are still working on the activites.  so far they have the hay ride and a magic show.  We also have some planned activites amongst ourselves.

--pumpkin carving/contest?  (make sure you bring your own pumpkins and tools)
 --scavenger hunt
 --halloween pinata
 --costume contest
--trick or treating among SCCampers families so bring your candy to pass out
 --bobbing for apples
 --morning Saturday breakfast
 --evening Saturday potluck

If you want t-shirts make sure you let Randy Flinders know soon.  They are $12.

Also, how do we want to handle prizes for the contest?  Should each family bring a prize for the # of children in there family? or 1 per family?    I think each child who participates should get something (even if it is small).  Let me know your thoughts on this.  We are looking at apprx. 30+ children.

GuestI m just catching up on all of the posts.  There are a lot of great activities planned.  If there s enough interest and time, I d be happy to do a storytime again.
Our family count is 2 adults, 5yo boy, 3yo girl.  We ve had our DO for a year and it s still never been used.  I was very disappointed to miss Moose s big DO lesson at the May rally.  It was his Pineapple Upside-down Cake that inspired us to get one in the first place.  But I don t know if I ll get up the nerve to try something for the potlucks from the DO or not.  Let me review what s already on the menu and I ll try to come up with something to go along.
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.   The weekend before we ll be at San Elijo which we ve heard is one of the better beach campgrounds.  Hope the weather stays nice for both weekends.

GuestJoan, a story time activity sounds great.  At Casitas last year you did it after dinner and before bedtime.  That seemed to work well.  How about Saturday evening after the potluck?

 GuestT-SHIRTS!!!!

The T-Shirts need to be ordered right after this weekend, so if you have not put in your order, please do so now!

You can preview the design at :

 http://customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=randy%40flindersfamily.com&F=sccampers2

But be warned that this is a slow loading page with applets and will be brutal with a dial up connection.  I will try to get the artwork up on the website shortly. Kudos goes to Hollypop who came up with the best rally design yet.

I have T-Shirt orders for everyone, EXCEPT the following...

 Diplomat
 JStubert
 Penny and Greg

Those of you who have placed your orders, I encourage you to check your listings at http://www.sccampers.org/halloween/hallo_a.htm and make sure I have the sizes listed correctly for your family.

I will be collecting $12.50 per shirt at the rally when I am passing them out.

Also, as a reminder, if you want to participate in the potluck meal(s), but have not emailed me your dish, feel free to do so.  A list of what others are bringing is available for viewing at: http://www.sccampers.org/halloween/hallo_p.htm .

On another note, we are adding face painting to the activities.  Kerry is practicing her face painting skills, so she will be offering free face painting for all the kids, and the kids at heart.

We are getting really close! [:D]

GuestKendra, my 12 year old will be thrilled about the face painting.  She tried to talk me into buying the paint at Party City the other day and let her do it.  I am glad Kerry is going to do it instead.[:D][;)]

QuoteHow about Saturday evening after the potluck?
Sat. evening storytime it is.  I think 7-7:30ish would be a good start time so the little ones with early bedtimes can be included too.  Does that sound good?  Does it give us enough time after the potluck?

GuestHey Randy, can you do an update on the website for me?  Our friend Brigette and her 2 sons Troy and Andrew are going to be joining us.  They will be in site 104.  Penny and Greg will be sharing our site.

I mentioned t-shirts to Penny and Greg but haven t had a response yet so go ahead and take it as a " no"  for t-shirts for them.

GuestThis will be our first trip camping with the group. It looks like we picked a great one. My wife and kids are really looking forward to it. It appears that there are a bunch of great activities planned; face painting, pumpkin carving, costume contest. etc.

With all these activities is there anyone keeping track of when all these things will take place? The reason I ask it that we don t want to miss a thing. We are not sure what we should bring to participate in these activities. We would like to contribute in someway and not just be a bunch of " good time charlies"  as my grandmother used to say.

My wife is picking her brain for ideas for the potluck without much success (wanna make a good first impression) do you have any ideas before she drives me crazy?
