griffsmomGot some bad news.  I called Vail Lake Resort and they do not have any more sites available.  They are booked solid.  All I can suggest is if we don t have anymore sites available then call yourself and see if they have a cancellation.  I can also do a " wait list"  option too.

We do have 1 site available still.  Site 101.  So if you are thinking about joining us for this weekend now is the time to let us know.

 OC CampersPaul L here:

I d be happy to contribute candy and novelties for the pinata. Just let me know how much to bring.

Does anyone like bacon? If so, I can bring a couple or three pounds for our breakfast contribution. For dinner, since we don t have a DO, how about slow cooked crockpot chilli?

We just returned from a week and a half trip to the 4 corners, stopping at Flagstaff, Canyon de Chelly, Durango, Moab, Monument Valley, and the Sedona area. The trip was great with the exception of near constant mechanical problems. Prior to the trip I d had the bearings packed and the trailer brakes serviced, including replacement of both magnet assemblies. The 3rd day out I noticed one trailer tire was bald, and the brake wires were hanging free from the other wheel. Once I d dealt with that, a trailer tire disintegrated all along the highway. Once I had the new spare on the wheel didn t turn freely. Limped into Moab to hear we might need a new axle. Turned out ok - just overpacked bearings, and some missing washers. I guess the tow vehicle was feeling left out, as it next gave us a scare via an engine idiot light. Now that we are home safely I need to see if I can get reimbursed for what I feel was shoddy work on my trailer. Ambitious trips are not without risk - I m looking forward to a short haul and a relaxing kick-back rally.

 griffsmomPaul,

Sorry to hear about the trailer problems---especially bearings.  We had ours repacked and won t be using the trailer until our Lake Tahoe and beyond trip in a couple of weeks.  Hope we didn t get shoddy work...they did pack our bearings last year, so I feel confident.  Still hate to hear those kinds of stories.

Wow Paul, it sure sounds like you had an eventful vacation.  Glad you and your family  returned safe and sound.

My family loves bacon and will eat as much as you want to bring.  I will make sure Randy takes his Lipitor[:D]

Thanks for the offer of  candy and things for the pinata.  Once we get a little closer I will let you know.  I need to start shopping now to try and find a Halloween style pinata (If they make them).   If I can t find one, we will just have to use our imagination and pretend a donkey is scary[;)][&:]

OC Campers

griffsmomNo problem Deidre.  Things happen, I was just thinking about what will I do if I don t here from the people listed?

Nikk and Denise, are you guys out there?  I don t have an e-mail address for you?  Otherwise everyone is accounted for.

Deidre, I will check at the desk about the additional cost.  How many people are coming with you?

 Jacqui

 griffsmomHi everyone-

Hollypop here. I just checked with Dave and he says he can come up with a t-shirt design if Randy will coordinate t-shirt production. Dave works on a Mac so I ll let you guys figure out how to send artwork, etc.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting all the new families joining us!

I don t have a DO nor any ideas yet for our potluck contribution. I ll give it some thought.

OC Campers

griffsmomWell I just got an e-mail from Nikk and Denise and they won t be able to make the rally.  The nerve of his doctor wanting him to have surgery[:)][&:].  Nikk, I hope all goes well for you and maybe you can make a different rally later on.

Site #84 is now up for grabs.  We have 2 sites availale for this fabulous, fun filled weekend.  Do we have any takers?!?

Hollypop, I sent Randy Flinders a personal e-mail asking him if his offer to help with t-shirts is still available.  I also gave him your e-mail address.  Will you let me know if something gets worked out?

 Thank You
 Jacqui

P.S.  I will be mailing the confirmations in the next week or so.

Ok, hopefully closer to rally day they will know for sure how many are coming.
I was talking to a friend who had someone with a tent on their site and I think she thought it was around $20 per night but I will find out for sure.

I have a friend who recently bought a hard-sider and he would like to join us at the rally.  Jacqui - can you put him down for site 84?  They are the Tozier family. I ll have him email you about sending you a check.

I guess I need to check my email at home, it seems I am lagging.  In any case, I am willing to take care of the T-Shirts, as long as I can get help in coming up with the graphic.  I ll check my email tonight and respond to Hollypop.....

Some other items I have been thinking about:

 - What are we going to do for prizes for the Pumpkin carving contest?  Should we have prizes just for kids, or should we include adults?  Should we break them up into age groups, and should we have token prizes for all the kids so they don t feel left out if they don t win?

 - Are the kids bringing costumes?  Should we do trick-or-treating within our own group?

mrflinders

griffsmomI have some other friends, Stan and Cindy Robinette, who want to join us at the Rally in their new Hybrid.  The ve got two daughters they ll be bringing along as well.

Jacqui - please put them down for site 101.  I ll have them email you so you can arrange payment.

That should do it now - we are all filled up for the trip!

You got it Randy, I put the Robinette family in site 101 as requested.  We are now all filled up.  If anyone is still interested they can let me know and I can start a wait list or you can call Vail Lake Resort yourself and see if they have any cancellations.

I was wondering if we could get a head count so that we know how many kids are coming.  I am planning a pinata so I want to make sure it is big enough for all the kids.

I like your thinking.  Maybe we could just get something fun for the kids.  Deidre (Dee4j) is bringing glowsticks again which the kids always enjoy.  Any ideas on some other fun kid things?

I think it would be fun to have the kids wear their costumes.  I know my kids always want to wear theirs before halloween.  Than we could trick or treat around our little group.  Maybe every family could bring a bag of candy or something to hand out from their camper.  What do you think?  Would everyone be up for this?

Any other suggestions?  So far we have :
 pumpkin carving
 halloween pinata
trick or treating around PUT families
