Ok, I expect NOT to hear anything about the Mojave Narrows cold, wind, and snow anymore. At least we didn't get eaten by bugs!!!! LOL

I think I'm turning into "The Fly"

BootheBunch

Sue, we are putting Heather in our prayers tonight...along with Baby Oen!

Quote from: DK&3kidsI thought I was losing my mind!!! I have bites ALL OVER ME!!! They are huge ugly red welts and I look so GROSS! They are on my arms, legs and feet - even between my toes! I had to take a prescription antihistamine just so I could sleep. They seem to be getting worse (bigger and itchier) and not better and lasting way longer than any mosquito bite I've ever had! They are esp. bad on my knees and those were covered in demin - hard for mosquitos to reach there. Gawd - I hope I didn't bring fleas home to my dogs! haha!:yikes:

Picked Ashlee up from school today and she has a LARGE red welt on her underarm with a tiny bump in the middle. Has anyone heard of chiggers? I'm thinking it's a possibility. Look them up on the internet.

I looked it up....sounds very much like it!!!  Ouch!  And, yuck!  I am sorry you are all suffering with these little boogers!  I am not sure why we were spared...just luck, or nasty blood?

I think that you are right.

I can't sleep from itching....still. I'm going to take a hot shower and strip our bed.

Wynn has bites all around her ankles. But Lori, Griff and I are bite free. Go figure.

I think that the reason I got it so bad was because I laid on the grass, down by the lake..........won't do that again :p .

I have been spending the morning washing sheets, towels & all the clothes that we've worn since the camp-out (camping clothes were washed the day we returned). I'm having the carpets and furniture shampooed today (one of the perks of my job :D ).

I'll deal with the PU this weekend. I guess I'll just let the mattress sit out in the sun (on the roof) for a day.

As for the car..........HMMMMM!! Think I'll check my fire insurance :yikes:

Isn't camping fun!! :-()

 :screwy:

Did I ever mention

I HATE BUGS!

Give me snakes any day. :D

I can't help myself........ Bugs will not bite Lawyers, they can sense evil.  As for Griffin, he was spared because he still has a shot at becoming a Doctor or an engineer, something un-evil.   LMAO !!!!

Do you all go down by the pond?  Could you have gotten them there?  I am trying to think where you could've gone and we didn't.  We didn't go down by the pond.

The pond seems to be the place where they might breed and do well.

So what do I do..............lay on the grass.....DUH! :banghead:

Well, I looked at mom's bites last night, and based on their appearance, Brian, I think you're right about it being chiggers.  Poor mom has bites all around her ankles and up to her knees and she was wearing long pants the entire time.  Griffin and I were down around the pond and riding our bikes on the little single track that follows the "creek" and we were both out at night but only one bite on my ankle and none on Griff and Dave.  Dave and mom never went down to the pond, so I don't think that the chiggers were limited just to the pond area.

I did use Cutter wipes (by "Off!" I think) all over Griffin's exposed skin and just on my legs, so that may have helped.  I keep them in the camper by my first aid kit so that I always have them, just in case.

You're kidding, right? If not, you clearly haven't seen Griffin in action.  He tenaciously negotiates, argues, and "spins the facts" better than most lawyers I ever opposed.:eyecrazy:  I think it's more probable that because he was so much like a lawyer at such an early age, the chiggers were extra-afraid of him!!  :yikes:

Dee4j

how funny I was thinking chiggers too, even tho I don't know what one is ALL my bites exept one are from the waist down the are huge red welts and they look like the have a white "head " on it.  mosquitos usually get you everywhere

I have one on my elbow but looks different than the others

I think Griffin was spared because they were afraid he would touch their guts!! :J

Kara didn't get any, they must not be attracted to blood like sharks are :J

Azusateach

Well, I don't think what's on my legs are chigger bites.  They're probably mosquito, and are healing, but still look like I'm recovering from chicken pox.  One would think that someone my age would know better than to scratch until they bleed.  But heck, it's the only way I know of to get rid of the itch.  Shaving my legs didn't help much (pretty picture, isn't it?).  Lord help me if there are mosquitos in Yosemite ...
