We're still in.  The only way we won't attend is if we get Yosemite reservations that happen to be that weekend.  We are looking forward to this trip.

Quote from: Dee4jyes I think I am going to bail on this one..the more I think about it.  If I got my wiring fixed the dry camping thing wouldn't be a big deal, but no awning too. with no A/C in July.  that and we'd have to park so close to each other every time someone F*rts your neighbor will here ..then there is the snoring

(waiting to be hit by Lori with a Huge block of Cheese  :p )

Don't worry Dee....I F*rt quietly and it's my wife that snores....not me.... :J

BTW.....Doofus mumbles in his sleep. :p

Oh boy...........I'm dead now, :yikes:

DK&3Kids Just left my house and Kristi said they have camped there before and it's really beautiful and thinks the trailers will fit, but will take some coordination
for example Azusateach may be one of the first ones there but can't be in the back with anyone in front of her as she is also the first one gone in the morning.

I agree. I hate to do this but here's a (corrected) picture. I think that the area is within the road circle (thank you for correcting me). I may be wrong but it looks pretty darn flexible. It just depends on what they will allow us to do with the area.

This doesn't look as flexible :o

HMMMMMMMMMMMM  May have to stick with 10.....12 tops, if we get creative.

Wavery-

You're one loop off.  Go to the link in my first post and then pan all the way to the right.

Edited:  Cal Coastline apparently doesn't like to have their photos linked.

I'll take that little section in the upper right corner, by the bush & RR tie.  :D

I think it's possible to get 10 rigs in there with awnings, especially if we move all the cars out.  I'm not worried about heat, either.  Heck, we're on a bluff overlooking the ocean.  I've camped along the beach (So. Carlsbad) lots of times & there's always a breeze, even when it's 85 degrees outside.  Nights are always pleasant, even if it's not jacket weather.  So Dee, suck it up & come back to us!  What better excuse to get that wiring fixed!  Dry camping is really, really nice!  Think of all the places you can visit!

I'm seeing the blocks of cheese flying at me now!!...It's hard to explain, but I get this little hair that stands up in the back of my neck...well you get it.

LEMMINGS!!! THE CLIFFS SCARRED YOU OFF!!  :)

cjpoppin

Sorry, but I thinking I should bail on this campout......I'll never be able to walk down that cliff and don't want to get stuck up top with no air alone......Is there a easy way to get down?  Can you drive and park somewhere?  Help me out with this so I can deside yes or no. I still need to talk this over with Jim so don't take me off just yet........Carol

wavery

I will be going right by the campgrounds in a couple of weeks. We'll stop and check things out. There is a road leading down to the beach and it looks like there is a parking lot down on the beach. I'll check it out. If anyone else has anything they want me to check on, let me know.

I'll be checking for chiggers....that's for sure :J

Thanks,

Stickied as requested. And congrats on your foray into the wagonmastering world. :#

PS Dave forgot to mention in his post--our HTT will be 30-32 feet long, front to back, when open and wider than usual with the rear side bunk open. Will we still fit?

There shouldn't be a problem with moving the cars.  You really can camp without your car right in front of your trailer.  In fact, it makes things rather nice without the cars around.

As far as dry camping, there are some fantastic places that you really miss if you're not willing to dry camp.

And as for those who inevitably will say why am I putting my $.02 cents in when I'm not signed up, #1, this rally filled faaaast; and #2, Paul's heading either to the east coast again (think I Dream of Jeannie) or the former USSR around this same time, possibly for the whole summer -- waaaah.  Paul said go ahead and plan for it becuase things change so quickly, but we'll have to talk more in detail.  David will be driving by then, so it will free up our schedule, but do we trust our almost 17YO to be home by himself for the weekend?

Non-Update Update

Unfortunately I can't edit the original post in this thread.  Maybe because of my "guest" status?

Last weekend was great fun camping at Doheny- I was suprised to see a total of 5 SCCampers families at the Beach DOG Dutch Oven Gathering.  Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go down to San Clemente and get the skinny on cost for vehicles and whether we could park trailers other than in the main parking area for the group site.

It's many months before this event but still I'm sorry I can't give a definite answer on whether more than 10 trailers will fit without excessive crowding.  Unfortunately that also means I can't figure the exact amount due from each family.

I did get the confirmation from Reserve America and the bill from our credit card company.

Since that bill is coming due I would appreciate the first ten people on the list send me a check.  If it turns out that there's plenty of room for a few more then we'll do a bit of a rebate later.

Total for two nights was $379.50.  With a little rounding that makes $38 per family.

cjpoppin

Jim sorry to say we will not be able to make this camp out after all.....We are going to be in Oregon......So now there will be room for someone on the waiting list.......carol

JimQPublic

Hi Everybody.  I'll both post this and IM everybody that had expressed interest.  Unfortunately I can't edit the original post so hopefully everyone will either read the bottom of the thread or their IM.

As I mentioned in the last post, it comes to $38 per family.  I would appreciate it if everyone in the first 10 could send me a check.  Address is at the bottom of the IM.

CjPoppin had to pull out so as of now the first 10 on the list are:

JimQPublic PAID
Wavery PAID
Beacher
Dee4J
Hatlet
KimRB266
Azusateach
GriffsDad/Mom
cb

Then the waiting list:
Estone
Sue Hardee

Vikings pulled out of the waiting list.  With just 12 total including the waiting list I really think we will be fine with everyone planning to attend.  Especially considering the chances of people having to cancel for one reason or another.
