I think that both of these look really nice and would accomodate our group.  As always, we'll do whatever the group decides!

If we are throwing more hats into the ring, how about Far West Resorts? It's in Santa Paula (out by Ojai), so it's up the 101 (read: no grapevine) and is a little less "far north." There's no beach or lake, but apparently, there's a fun vintage train ride in nearby Fillmore. The Birch loop might be nice for all of us yahoos...

We stayed in Fillmore years ago...and rode the train.  The area is big in antiques.  And, oranges, I think.  :-)  We would have to check...as I know they use the train during October for going to the pumpkin patch!

Since things are still up in the air, I want to make another suggestion tonight.
The polling has for the most part, come to a conclusion. I want to throw another campsite into the works for all of your considerations!

Yes it is still on the grapevine but you WON'T have to drive as far! It has some good things about it. Look at the site and if the link dosen't work type in Pyramid lake RV resort. This campsite would save at least 90 minutes off the drive over the grapevine. I have never been to this one so it would be new for us as well as for others. It is seculed off the freeway.
Well let me know. I am trying to make it more logistical for the majority.

It, too, looks great, Bob!  At first we didn't know where we would go....and now we have too many choices!  Ack!

Lori,
I went back thru the posts and read number 36 post. It mentioned that this particular campground had 3 weeks to clean up its act. Is this the same place that Brad was talking about? Will call them and get back to you by tuesday. It looks like another option in a mirad of choices!
No, I am not being scared off by all the choices that lay out there. We all need to come to a decision, very soon. I would still wagonmaster this and more in the future if you all choose me.

Ok Gang,
As they say " If you build it, they will come"! I have made a choice in all the confusion of places to go. I want to pick the "Far West Resort" that Lori has mention several times. I just got off the phone with one of the campsite people. She says that have no problems what so ever with the county of ventura. They are taking reservations every day. I talked to her about our wanting to do a Halloween rally at their campground on either the Oct. 12-14 or the next weekend, the 19-21! All I need is for you guys to say yes! I will book it tomorrow! You know how things change in a blink of an eye. Also here is the link for the train out of Fillmore. //www.fwry.com. Look at the pumpkin patch section of their web site. I think this is exactly what we want as far as atmosphere. We can still decorate our trailers and campsites and the kids can trick or treat between us all.
I am looking at the birch section at the campsite. Tell me what do all think. I say yes but if I build it, will you come?

I'm in for this -- looks MUCH more appealing than Bakersfield in October!  (No offense meant, Bob.)  My vote would be for the 12th-14th -- that way Lori & I could celebrate our birthdays together!  :D

Yes wayne, This is a different web site than what I have but it is still the same place. Blow up the site of birch numbers 6 - 16 and there you have it. Also check out the other railroad web site that I left in the email.

I happen to think that Bakersfield is lovely year round!!! I'm also fond of tule fog, Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, Okkies, Merle Haggard, and white lightning. I'm not joking!

Either weekend is fine with us!

We're in!  We took Logann out there for a weekend when she was about 1 year old....and planned to go back every year...either to the pumpkin patch or Christmas tree lot.  Well, you know how life is....we have never gone back!  So, we are totally excited!!

In the interest of you having a very successful campout, I will not plan to come, because everytime we have tried to go to FarWest, something major has happened -- dog got attacked while we were hooking up our trailer by a loose dog a guy was walking, which he then ran off and didn't even check our dog, and we spent $400 and the night in the doggy ER.  Another time we had car problems.  Can't remember the third one -- probably something having to do with sports.  It never ends.  But I've heard great things about the place and always wanted to go there.

Trina, I not only expect you to be there but insist and won't take no for answer! All those times that you wanted to go but couldn't meant that this RALLY was the one to be at! Don't let the past rule your future! You are in control of what you do and you do not want to dishonor the SCCampers!
 Be there or be square!
