Good to hear your news! It sounds like it was an absolute nightmare. I hope your lives return to some semblance of normal soon. Take care.

Quote from: BootheBunchYes, it is best the students are home.  However, I have been stuck inside for three days with my students, and they have been crazy!  Worse than rainy day behavior.  And, yesterday, the lights kept flickering on and off throughout the day....and they would yell "FIRE!".  Today was my day OFF....I was looking forward to being away from my students and sending my sweet kids off to school....and being by MYSELF!  Poor me.

YIKES!
I'm going in to my son's class as the 'Art Docent' to get the class to do something artsy tomorrow. I wasn't thinking about 20 cage crazy six year olds an hour or so before the weekend.

I just saw a live news shot of Foothill Ranch on fire again. Looks like the GriffsGang isn't out of danger yet.
Stay safe, please!

Quote from: BootheBunchI think Kwisti said Estelle and them were able to go back home.  I don't know about Roberta (Popupmomma)!  Her location says Rancho San Diego....I thought Poway...and she hasn't been on!

Lisa

Actually, Rancho San Deigo is way south east of us and they were evacuated also..wish we would hear from her..I am worried about them.

I'm at a loss for words on how helplessly angry I am about arsonists.  I read one thing today that did cheer me up...

Police shot dead one arsonist, (one version I heard was as he was setting a fire).

Here's a good overview story, and pictures (and mentions the shooting):

I have seen enough in my lifetime to know that, from what've read so far, if I were on the jury I would find the cop guilty of murder.  Ramming a cruiser from a "cornered" position does not present a serious risk to a police officer in that cruiser.  If he rammed (or attempted to ram) the cruiser at 100 MPH (or even 30 MPH) that would have been different, but I for one am sick of cops killing people simply because they can.

Remember, there is absolutly no evidence that this guy was an arsonist.  He "acted suspiciously."  For crying out loud, bird watching looks suspicious until you know what is going on.

PRECISELY!
You do NOT know what happened here, so save your judgement!
I am a dedicated police officer, who has repeatedly watched my fellow officers put their lives at risk to protect the public. You have no idea of the danger we face daily and until the investigation of this incident is complete, you also have no idea of the true circumstances. Believe it or not Austin, the authorities didn't feel the need to contact you personally with all the information.

AB, it saddens me that you're so quick to judge.  NOBODY knows what happened, except the cops involved & maybe anyone who saw it.  Frankly, it's none of our business to play judge & jury unless we're invited.  Comments like yours are disrespectful to the law enforcement involved -- including those in the profession who participate in our boards.  Please, curb your ... passion (?) until the investigation is in, and be mindful of who might be reading your indictments.

Hi, Austin.  With your information, I can understand your frustration with this situation.  But, we don't know all the facts yet, so we really should not be passing judgement.  And, please be careful...your comment about cops is a bit offensive and hurtful--declaring a judgement on all cops.  Yes, there have been a few cops who have made mistakes....but, I do not believe cops are "killing people simply because they can".  My uncle is a retired Los Angeles policeman...and I know this comment would hurt his feelings...as he spent a good portion of his life protecting the lives of others.

Thanks for sending your thoughts and prayers to all of us in SoCal regarding the fires.....

Lisa

TheViking

Well AB, as with many of your posts, you have yet again pissed people off. Yes, it is your opinion, but I kinda figured you as a person that would want all the facts before forming an opinion. Unless you made a special trip out here to SoCal and happened to be standing at the sight of the alleged arsonist, I can't for the life of me see how you can have more information than us here in SoCal that are living this nightmare. We appriciate your prayers, we do, but right now we don't need to hear that kind of crap. When the bridge collapsed in your state did one of us start ragging about how crappy the engineers are? Or how the rescue effort could have been better? I think not. The truth will come out and we will all know. Until then let's keep some things to ourselves.

Whew, good thing Kristi pulled back on the reins on this one.

endless horizons

Hi everyone,

I live in Rancho Penasquitos, just south of Rancho Bernardo. We drove up to the mall in Escondido which is just on the other side of lake hodges-north of Rancho Bernardo. As we were driving through the north part of Rancho Bernardo we could see all of the burned homes from the freeway. It was so sad. I just could not bear it. The school district informed us  over 324 children in our district have lost thier homes. Twenty of the staff have lost thier homes.

That is only one area of san diego county. Ramona, Jamul, Barrette Junction, Potrero etc in the south east of the county. All of the indian reservations in east county were hit, north county RB, escondido, valley center, fall brook, Rancho Santa fe, San Marcos. I would have never thought living 15 min from the beach we would have to be prepared to evacuate as a result of a wild fire that started on the east side of the county.

Please continue to pray for all those who lost thier homes and or family
member(s).

sincerly,
Maggie

God Bless all law enforcement officers, fireman, and the military for giving their all and sometimes their lives while protecting us from harm. We love, respect, and thank you for all you do.
