Anyone want to take a hike?

Solstice Canyon is a quarter-mile north of Malibu RV Park---go to the entrance of the park, turn right, then turn right again at the 76 station.  Turn left 200 feet up the road then drive a quarter mile to the parking area.

The trail is a stroller friendly trail.  Here is the description from the NPS website. http://www.nps.gov/samo/maps/solstice.htm

Scott, sounds like fun.  Are you planning this hike for Saturday or Sunday?  Are dogs allowed on the trail?

Sounds like fun. There's a geocache up there I think. Can that be a Sunday hike or are you stuck on Saturday?

BTW - Tamara bought craft supplies for the kids and was wondering if there was anyone that would be willing to help out. There's a chance that I may have to go into work on Sat. I'll know by Fri.:(

A hike sounds fun, you may want to leave Jacqui behind though. On the last hike I took her on she collapsed half way in. I thought I was going to have to carry her out!

someone mentioned there was no overflow parking. I could be wrong but I think there was some guest parkingright ibn front of where we camped last time?

Rich,

If the craft is 3 y/o-friendly, I'd be happy to help Tamara out.  Griffin loves crafts.  I'm bringing a bunch of play-doh that we have left over from a past happy meal give-a-way.  Griffin loves play-doh, but I don't love it in my carpeting.

Speaking of what Griffin loves, I just got back from going to Toys R Us on my lunch hour.  I bought bubbles and a kite and a box of 52 colors of sidewalk chalk for the trip.  Who would've thought that it was even possible to come up with 52 colors for SIDEWALK CHALK!!!!  That kid is sooooo spoiled!!   (But hopefully, it will keep the kids busy, at least for a little while!)

Randy,  you're going to pay for that comment about Jacqui...you do know that don't you?  I'd love to go for a hike, but I don't relish having to carry a whiney 3 y/o halfway into it.  We may spend that time making sand castles, riding boogie boards, and flying kites at the beach.

Hey, honey you forgot to mention we were at 10,000 ft.  Some people never forget anything:swear: :D .  Yes, I am definately out of shape but if a stroller can make this hike so can I!!:)

PX  Last time we were there they did have some overflow parking but the lady at Malibu RV said that is wasn't available over the holiday weekend.

Rich, I have a 12 y/o daughter who will be happy to help Tamara with the craft.

I will have small gifts for the kids. They will play bingo and get a prize. EACH child will win regardless.  If older folk wish to play at some point, maybe  each of us bring a small something to add to the pot ???

Just a thought.

Rich,

Sorry--we are stuck on Saturday.  One nephew and his friend have to leave for Illinois on Sunday morning, so that's the only day we have to get together....multitasking even on our days off.

Hope you don't have to work.

Just wanted to wish my fellow ScCampers a Happy Memorial Day weekend...I'm hoping for good weather at Lake Isabella.  Heard a rumor of rain on Saturday.  Rain?  in May?  in southern California?  I can't believe it!

Finally we have confirmed our trip to Hawaii.  I was beginning to think that I would be asking for our spot back at the Pismo trip.  We have a condo on the beach at Diamond Head, all expenses paid...(air, condo, rental car)...yeehaaa!

Don'tcha just love vacations!

Happy Camping Everyone!

Jeanne, have fun at Lake Isabella. Fortunately, mother nature has blessed us with mild temperatures. It doesn't appear like anyone will roast in the heat.

We are getting ready for Malibu. Suitcases are packed, food is in the container. All we need to do tomorrow is fill the cooler and load the car. The kids are out of school at 1pm. Hopefully, we will be on the road shortly after. If anyone needs to get in touch with us, my cell# is (714)904-0940.

I'm envious.  I'm too tired to pack bags tonight.  It'll have tobe tomorrow, when I dont have other after-work activities competing for my time.  We'll be up early Friday morning.  Hopefully, they'll allow us to check in a little early.   It looks like the weather is going to warm up, even if there is drizzle forecast for Saturday morning.

Leashed dogs are allowed.

There is a geocache in the canyon.
